A.

District 28 and Dr Harvey's family established the Homer O. Harvey scholarship in 1989 when Dr Harvey retired after 21 years as our district superintendent..

Q?

Who receives the scholarship funds?

A.

Each year, between 12-16 Glenbrook North seniors who are District 28 alums receive a scholarship to the college of their choice, with scholarships ranging from $500-$1,000. Students are chosen based on their citizenship and scholarship..

Q?

My kids are still in elementary school, and college is a long way off. Why should I get involved in the HOH 5k Run/Walk?

A.

The HOH 5K is the main fundraiser for the scholarship program, and the more participants we have - and the more donations we receive - the more scholarships we can continue to award to graduating seniors who went to District 28 schools. We hope to keep the scholarship program going for years to come with support from the community..

Q?

How many students have received scholarships over the years? How much in scholarship money has been awarded to students?

A.

Since 1989, 315 Glenbrook North and Northbrook Junior High students have received $279,500 in scholarship funds..

Q?

My family doesn’t really do races. What is this one like?

A.

The HOH 5K Run/Walk is open to runners and walkers at all levels. There are plenty of serious runner in the front of the pack - and many kids who are just excited to be running in a real race. Lots of families walk together at all kinds of paces, including younger children enjoying the race with a ride in the stroller. (No bikes or dogs, please).
